The Proposal.

"You are the home of my heart." He texted her when he arrived in Manila. She didn't know he was flying in tonight to propose to her. She jumped off her seat the moment she saw him enter the resto. And she jumped off her seat the second time when she saw him pick the ring from the dessert plate.

"Will you be home with me forever?" He asked her. She said Yes in between tears.

This is the short version of the story.

The long version included months of planning and preparation, exchanging text messages and calls between me and him about the plan, keeping the secret from her, finding three long-stemmed roses, getting two other accomplices, putting the ring in her favorite crepe dessert (which she didn't see. haha), asking the resto staff to play love songs, and sharing four hours of laughter and stories (tonight).

It was the first time I've seen an actual proposal. I've only seen it in movies and read it in novels. But tonight, I was there - documenting it, witnessing it. I had a hodgepodge of emotions but mostly, it was happiness I felt. Happiness for these two people who are so in-love and have decided to begin their own version of forever.

. . . . .

They both have been friends of mine for a long time (he, more than 20 years; and she, about a decade). And it was such a privilege to witness their love story (and to be part of the planning for the proposal).

True love really finds ways to be with the beloved.

I love this story. You captured every moment of it, and beautifully translated those moments into words.

But I won't ask who the persons are. Let their identity remain a mystery :-D

Hi Badeth! Oh, I wish I have the gift of words so I could write every detail of the proposal (the funny parts, especially).

Who these two are, let me just say, I really really love them. :)
