Heart-swelling messages from college friends.
Jane, for example, wrote: "I want to emulate you. You are cool and level-headed. Not to mention, brilliant and beautiful. I want to be like you." This means a lot to me because Jane has seen me in my weirdest, ugliest, strangest, craziest stage. :D
Today, three people I love dearly are celebrating their birthdays -- My sister Azenith (the gentle one), and my friends (who I consider sisters, too) Marlen and Mecielo.
They are God's gift to me. And they more than make up for those two "friends" who deleted me in FB. Hahaha. Forgive me, I'm just finding it utterly hilarious. And juvenile.
Ah, but life's like that. You gain some, you lose some -- weight and friends.
Probably the longest registered place name in the world (Hawke's Bay, NZ) -- Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu
(Translation: The summit of the hill where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as Land Eater, played his nose flute to his loved one.)
I got this from my friend Golda's FB page. Another friend, Radel, left a comment:
"...nindot nga idea--using a whole sentence or phrase and not just a word for a name. It's like Dances with Wolves as name for an American Indian. It's more poetic. I had a student before who is named She's Magnolia."
I like that name! She's Magnolia. Maybe, I will name my daughter: Chasing Light in Dark Places. LOL.
True, Strong, Solid Friendships.
I'm grateful for friends who are constantly there for me, loving me without question or condition. For friends who does not let petty things, imagined or not, come in the way of our friendship.
I am grateful I have friends who know me enough to say to the negative and petty: "She's NOT what you say she is."
Strong and solid, this group. I'm thankful for them.
