Had merienda with Grace and Jaida the day before I flew back to Manila. It was a lovely afternoon and we decided to meet up at the Terraces. We laughed a lot (like we always do when we're together), and reminisced about old times, about all other funny/crazy/defining moments we shared, about how life has been and the lessons we've learned from it.
We three used to work together at EExcel and I learned a lot from them. When I resigned from the job, they surprised me with a despedida party. It's still very vivid in my head how they cried (Jaida cried the hardest) and asked me to stay. They are the nicest people to work with, but destiny had other plans for me. I left for Manila weeks after that to take a job at the UN, and we promised to keep in touch. We all remained friends.
I don't know exactly how the universe works when it comes to friendship, how we become close to certain people. All I know is that the people closest to me have the gentlest of spirits and the biggest of hearts.
After reminiscing with Grace and Jaida, I met up with some of my college friends. We come from different colleges, belonged to different orgs, but it was the school paper that brought us together.
I love to be around these people. They're grounded and funny and smart, there's never a boring moment. This is also why I always look forward to our annual reunions.
I went home past midnight that night, happy and loved. It was truly a wonderful way to end my Cebu trip.
. . . . .
In between meeting Grace/Jaida and my college friends, I was suppose to have dinner with Injinuous. But her little one came out. Congrats Jane and Josh! See you come August! :)
