My mini birthday cake. Thank you, J for taking this picture.
It was such a lovely, breathtaking year. I have been given more than what I asked for. My heart is also expanding -- wider and deeper. I am in a beautiful place in my life and I am beyond grateful.
I turned a year older yesterday. I celebrated it with gratitude for all things -- perfect and imperfect, big and small, sublime and mundane.
And thank you to everyone who emailed, called, texted, left FB wall messages, sent cards and gifts. You all made me feel so loved.
My sister D at Mary Grace. Happy to see her.
And I had a lovely dinner, too, with J and D -- the two people I run to when I need some saving from occasional heartaches. After our dinner at the People's Palace (I love Thai food), we had coffee and dessert at Mary Grace.
My Ortigas friends (haha) treated me out to a marvelous dinner at The Frazzled Cook before my birthday. I love being with these three. Our conversations are always funny and deep and intense. When I am with them, I feel safe, comfortable, and more of myself.
Thank you Edeena, Grace, and Val. You three made me feel very special.
. . . . .
There are still two birthday dinners waiting for me. More than all the material things, it is the kind of people I have in my life that I am most grateful about.
Now, flipping a new page, starting a new chapter.
Happy birthday, Self.
