A Sad Day.

It's a sad day for my family.
The doctors amputated my aunt's leg today.
She had a cut on her toe and took it for granted. She is diabetic.
My sisters and I have been calling each other, finding solace in each other's childhood memories of our aunt.
We tear up at every mention of her name. I tear up whenever I remember her.
I can't even begin to describe the sadness, the shock, or whatever we are all feeling about this.
I told my sisters that if there's a lesson we can learn from this, it is that we must try to do things right the first time.

6 left some love :
that is really sad...it's a lesson for us to take care and be aware of our health
I feel your sadness, too, Ate Ai. And thanks for sharing the lesson learned.
I am sorry to hear about your aunt Ai...
I have to say diabetes runs in my family too, and if i can count how many family i have that's been amputated for the same reason, a few more than i can count... and still boils down to one reason, not taking enough care/value to oneself...
*hugs*
BTW, the photo above surely brings out the beauty in that miniature flower... very well compose, nice framing and nice vivid/bright colors... I ♥ it!
I am sorry to hear about your aunt. My father, Ai, is also diabetic and everytime we hear that he has a cut, a burn, a wound, or even just a scratch, we worry.
Oh so sad, Ai...
Diabetes is a chronic degenerative disease that affects many today. Worse is that many people lost their lives due to complications brought about by diabetes. But it can be prevented with proper diet and exercise plus supplemental nutrition in the right content, right combination and right amount.
Our health is our real wealth. Take care of yourself. Love it more. :-)
